Open Air Photobooth
The Open Air Photobooth® consists of two ATA-style cases in your choice of color. (Colors shown on this page are approximate.)

Top case is 16” by 22” by 34” high, weighing 60 lbs. Bottom case is 14” by 22” by 38” high, weighing 40 lbs. (without printer). When cases are in use, they take up a floor space of 14” by 22” and stand approximately 6’ high.

Top case houses the flash, camera, computer, and customer interface controls, while the bottom case houses the professional dye-sublimation printer.

These cases travel separately and easily nest on top of each other during use.

Extra power outlets and storage space are in the bottom case for use during an event. Bottom case can also be used as a stand-alone unit for separate printing applications.

Setup Information



The most common setup of the Open Air Photobooth incorporates a bench and curtain backdrop. The recommended floor area required for setup with bench and backdrop is approximately 5’ by 5’. Ultimately, the versatility in setup is only limited by the imagination of the owner/client. Individuals up to groups of 10-20 have crowded in front of the Open Air Photobooth to have their images captured.

Recommendations for benches and commercially available backdrops are included with your purchase. In the future, Open Air Entertainment plans to offer these items directly.

Canon imaging technology at over 14 megapixels is utilized to capture high-definition images. A: Rental fees for digital photobooths vary depending on your location. For example, in Southern California, the average rental fees commonly range from $1,000-$1,600 per event (with options). Thus, in Southern California, the Open Air Photobooth can be paid for in as little as 4-6 events!

Q: What are the expenses I’ll incur when using my Open Air Photobooth?

A: Assuming the booth is set to print captured images, the cost of printer supplies will be the only cost incurred. With the paper/ink cartridges commercially available on this website and others, you’ll never be without supplies.

The Sony UPCX1 printer has an extremely low price per print. If purchased through www.openairphotobooth.com, a single 3.5x5 print costs $.25, a 4x6 costs $.20, a 5x7 costs $.65, and a 4x8 costs $.53. If you select photo strip outputs, this cost per print will be cut in half (due to the printing of duplicates).

For a 4-hour rental, 100-300 prints is common, thus total expenses can range from $25-$75.

A: The compact computer system running the Open Air Photobooth is Windows-based. Open Air Photobooth software is preset to run automatically upon startup for ease of operation. Being Wi-Fi compliant (802.11 b/g/n), software can be upgraded wirelessly, and photos can easily be transferred to another computer or to a hosting site on the Internet.

Q: What printer is used in the Open Air Photobooth?

A: The Open Air Photobooth utilizes the Sony UPCX1 professional dye-sublimation photo printer.

Q: Do I have to load any software into the booth when it arrives?

A: No. After following the Start Up Guide provided with your booth, you’ll be able to turn on the booth and immediately take pictures. A: The photobooth software can be set to Print Only, Print and Save as .jpg, or Save as .jpg Only. Each individual image as well as the selected output can be saved.

The most common layouts are a single image on one sheet of paper (1 image, 1 row, 1 column), a passport-style strip of images (e.g., 4 images, 4 rows, 1 column), or a 2x2 grid of 4 images. Second, the operator can incorporate a custom background, header and footer for the output. This feature makes it possible to add relevant text or logos to the output.

A: The camera and software capture color images. These images can be printed as color or b/w. The Open Air Photobooth comes standard with one activation button. Prior to an event, the operator can set the software to print color or b/w.
